Take It Further, flowers

Here is the Take It Further Challenge sponsored by Sharonb http://sharonb.wordpress.com/ all stitched. I must remember that it is hard on the hands to stitch Ultrasuede even with a leather needle.

The Star Gazer Lily is really blooming right now. It's such a beautiful flower.

Class Tester

Twice I've uploaded the photo which is correct in my file, but is on its side here. Oh well, you can see the top better. I'm testing the Silk Fusion class for Sueb. You can sign up at http://www.twocreativestudios.com/ and should. It's a great class and silk fusion fabric shimmers. I plan to make lots of it.

My only problem is deciding which side to use! Both turn out so well.

Post card, Quilt

Recently, I traded postcard with Linda http://www.linda-stokes.blogspot.com/ This is the lovely one I received. It is so much fun to "meet" artists from around the world and have some of their art.

One time that I visited Houston, my son took me to a wonderful fabric store where I purchased African fabrics. From the red and gold one, I cut a number of blocks which have sat around for years. One day I realized that I could use just some of the pieces to make a small hanging. The solid red has Sashiko type quilting; the solid black has machine quilting with a metallic black thread. I was going to add beads to it but decided that the simplicity was its strong point.

Quilt

Before I went to visit family in Houston, I put together the batik blocks that were on the design wall. Here is the result. I like to play with simple shapes and arrange them in color/value designs. I also find that I have to finish things up before travelling, or I'll have a difficult time getting back to them later. My mind is in a different place when I return. Thanks for everyone who visits and especially to those who comment. I try to find an email, blog, or website to respond to but can't always.

Take It Further

I just finished up 3 postcards all of which were done with strips of fabrics and sheer circles over the strips. The sheers are positioned with straight stitch. Then I did machine embroidered circles.
It took me a while to get started on this month's challenge. I was visiting grandchildren and not near the studio. I'll be stitching Ultrasuede shapes on a wool background. I've been wanting to do hand stitching. The challenge was started by Sharonb http://sharonb.wordpress.com/
