Class

We made an accordion book to record the stamps we made in the class from www.joggles.com

Here it is open.

We also carved our initials or signature. This is the way I signed my stitched pieces before we did labels many years ago. It was easier to hand stitch straight lines and much faster, so I could get back to the fun stuff.

Quilting

Japanese fabrics are so special that I wanted to feature this one and hand stitched around the petals and leaves then beaded the centers. It's 18" by 24".  It is machine quilted echoing the shapes in the center. The borders are quilted straight to suggest a frame.

Here's the detail.

Class

Here are the tags I made with the second set of stamps I carved for the class at www.joggles.com

I particularly like the flower shapes that are made from the leftover corners of the bigger stamps.

Knitting

I finished this summer sweater from an old pattern book. I like to do cables. It's made from Caron's Simply Soft.
I knit at night, especially now with harvesting starting. The broccoli, spinach, lettuce and radishes are ready.

Quilt

This is a machine quilted piece that is 25" square. I had the scrap of stripes shown below and wondered if the piecing of a very regular order could work if it was pieced to something else in a curve.

Class

Being a professional student, I signed up for another class from www.joggles.com  This one is on carving stamps and is by Janice Berkebile. She has a lot of ideas.

Janice suggested that I also create the negative shapes of the above stamps, so here they are.

Knitting

This is a section of an afghan I knit in Tuck Stitch on my Bulky Knitting Machine. I wanted to get back to the knitting machine and thought this would be a good way. It's 36" by 45" and will be a lap robe. Tuck stitch is a stitch where a group of stitches aren't knit for a number of rows, then knit together on the next row. It makes an airy, interesting pattern and is my favorite

Wool Applique

I was asked what I do with my samplers. Sometimes I make a book. Other times they sit in a drawer. This was a suede sample book my Daughter-in-law found and sent me.

I tried matching the wool applique piece to the other side.

Each wool piece is stitched to a suede piece. It was quite a puzzle to try to do that and arrange them, so they looked good with the previous page. I tried several ways to edge the pages and found that simply straight stitching by machine worked best.

I love to read the comments that are left, but Internet Explorer no longer lets me respond. Darn.

Circle Design

This circle design is inspired by a Begonia leaf. Part of it seems nested on top of the larger part.

I can see this as an abstract flower or just a design.

Bead Journal Project

The button is 1 1/2" across and done with a stone cabochon in the center surrounded by seed beads size 11 using back stitch and size 8 with an 11 as a stopper bead.

Stitchery

When things were past confusing here I took Craftsy's Hand Embroidery class and did samplers. Stitching was relaxing. The first one is straight stitches.

This one is looped stitches.

Next is crossed stitches with the leaf done without an outline in the middle and stem or back stitch on the ends.

Finally the knotted stitches.

The instructor was very clear with her explanations.

Circle Design

Finally, I'm getting back to the class on design using circles. It's through Gail Harker's Creative site and is self motivated with nothing turned in.

This is based on an S and not the most creative but might make a nice logo.

Art Squared

http://artsquaredgroup.blogspot.com/

The site for the Art Squared group is about. The reveal was yesterday. My turn meant that I would pick something that I like, so the word is Geometric. I had so many ideas but life had  bumps the last couple of months, so they fled right out of my mind.

This is my new design which is 12 by 12 inches and worked on wool using the chain and stem stitches in perle cotton and embroidery floss. It is machine quilted and edged by zigzagging a fuzzy yarn to the outside.
