Knitting

This is a coat sweater that I just finished knitting. The rainy weather we've been having encourages sitting inside and knitting. Instead of buttonholes, I used button loops.

Knitting

The hat on the left is another chemo cap knit with Fun Furr yarn.  The one on the right is made from a kit given me by a friend. The different yarns are fused together, so they change as you go with no weaving in of ends. Fun.

Art and Soul

This was the Japanese Inspired Collage class at Portland's Art and Soul. We made stamps using moldable foam that is heated with a heat gun and impressed on something. Most of found that we like the images better when we stamped them twice using different colored inks.

We marbled several types of papers with inks. We also painted with watercolors to make flowers and fish to use in the collages. Then we folded origami swans and fans.

This is one of the 8" by 8" collages I did. When I came home, I added the fancy paper clips.

This is the second collage I did adding the gold buttons from my stash. It was a fun class,  and we did get a lot done.

Art and Soul

This is the open version of the Carousel Book class project I made at Portland's Art and Soul. It has 3 layers with the top two cut out to show the parts behind. I based it on Nature as usual and have leaf shapes free standing in the openings.

This is what happens when you put the covers together to form a star.

Bead Journal Project

This is the Bead Journal Project button for April. It is 2 inches square and done on an upholstery button form. I did find out that it's hard to use that type of form for beaded pieces. It comes with a mold, but the beads make the piece too big to use it.

Quilt

This is another version of the 4 patch quilt that will be donated to charity. I liked experimenting with the design. This one has 4 colors, but the yellow was only used for the smaller pieces so it wouldn't overwhelm. The tan has more pieces but not as many as the red or green.

Circles

Here's a circle design based on the photo I took of the Poppy in our front flower bed. I think it needs work but would make a quilting design. I need to get back to designing with circles.

Wool Applique

The last two wool flower appliques. I put a butterfly on this one that is lace I painted.

This is one of my favorites. Now I need to do something with the 10 flowers and decide what to do next.

Art and Soul

I'm off to Art and Soul in Portland, Oregon and am taking 4 classes this year. I commute but find that there is little time for that, the classes, and the house/dog/husband things during that week, so I'll take the week off from blogging. See you on April 14.

Art Squared

This is my piece for the online art blog http://artsquaredgroup.blogspot.com  The word this time was Natural. What is more natural than a flower? The petals are suede and machine stitched down. The background is a cotton sunprint and is machine quilted. The center is a button. The binding is a stipe with a metallic gold in it.
