Gifts

I went to see our daughter and look at what I came home with. She had crocheted the afghan for her Dad, so he wouldn't be cold while working on the computer. This is it folded in quarters-love the blues.

Last time I visited we had found a book on knotting and the bracelet she gave me is one of the ones she made.

We had a nice day.

Quilt

I found the top in the closet and decided to quilt it for the nursing home. It's about 45" square and would make a lap quilt for a wheel chair. It's a design I came up with using Electric Quilt 7.The fabrics are batiks and solids.

Circles

It's fun to see how many ways I can put a design in a circle. The pages and pens sit by my chair, so it is easy to play.

I think I need to do something with the eye shaped part of this design.

wool Applique

More wool flowers. I decided to add an applique of  a dragonfly that I painted and rickrack on the stem.  Did you know that you can paint over rickrack even if it already has color?

I keep trying different stitches to see what happens-do love to hand stitch.

Circles

With this one I learned that you have to be careful about what is on the other side of the page. It's not my favorite color combination or design, but that's how I learn-the hard way!

I do like the designs with the straight radiating lines and need to do one in stitch.

Wool Applique

More wool applique. I just like working with wool and trying different stitches to see what happens.

All were freehand cut. The threads are whatever I have in the color I want to use with a lot of Perle Cotton and embroidery floss.

Bead Journal Project

Here's the next button for the Bead Journal Project. It's 1 3/4" across with 3 cabochons in the center. The rest are seed beads in size 8 and 11.

Quilt

I finished another quilt for charity. It's 40" square and made with African Fabrics.

The detail shows the motif that I've been working with on quite a number of quilts.

Circles

Boy, did I learn something. I tend to stop too soon when doing a design as shown above.

What a difference a little extra makes.

This design does not show well and isn't very interesting.

Now it has some life.

Wool Applique

The color is off on this one, but it does show the design. I keep trying different stitches to see how they work and often using variegated thread.

This one reminds me of a Pennsylvania Dutch type design.

Circles

More of the circle exercises. These two show the difference between starting with the center in the middle or offset. I like the offset better-think it's more interesting.

This one would be a good design for a quilt.

Stitching

A friend showed me her wool applique sampler of leaves from a class she took from Sue Spargo. I just loved it and decided I needed to try some wool applique. I love working with wool anyway. I'm cutting the shapes freehand. If I'm not sure, I'll cut the shape in scrap paper first.

This is my favorite. The threads are floss, perle cotton, wool, anything in the right color. Each is a 7" square and will go in a book.

Quilt

Looking through scraps, I found this one and decided to make the hanging. It's 10 by 24" The stitching is with my hand painted threads.  The binding is the same pieced fabrics as the band in the piece and was hard to turn and hand stitch, but I think it works. Satisfaction is using up stuff.
