Sue has written a new class; this one on design, and it's a great one. From one watercolor design I did quickly, I have 5 variations to work with!

Here is the front of the journal I made from a painted fabric using one of the designs.

The back is another variation. The direction for the journal are included in the class.

Inside I used some of my painted papers for cover sheets on the signatures.

Here is the last book I made testing the Creative Book Making Class for Sueb that she's offering this fall at http://www.twocreativestudios.com/

The cover is a brown paper bag that I painted after I crumpled it and used an ink pad on.

The lining is tissue paper bonded to fabric. It is a 3 fold book with the last section opening in the other directions and was a favorite when I showed the books to my quilt group.

The next book in the Creative Book Making class being offered by SueB in the Fall at www.twocreativestudios.com has cutouts in the spine, so you use fancy papers to wrap each signature. I thought this would be harder, but it isn't with Sue's good directions. I used scrapbooking papers in shades of gray to go with the red book cloth binding. It's going to be another excellent class.

Here is another book I made testing the new Creative Book Making class offered by Sue Bleiweiss at www.twocreativestudios.com The binding makes it possible to add or remove pages. It's an easy and fun book to make. The center panel is a painted wallpaper sample.

Here's the next book in the Creative Book Making class being offered in the fall by SueB at www.twocreativestudios.com It's called a Stab Stitch Binding and is easy to do. Doesn't it look like an impressive way to bind a book? The center is rubber stamped and embossed. I really like to make these books and using good instructions makes it easy.

Look what came in the mail. I ordered Stitching the Textured Surface from England www.d4daisy.com . It's the new book by Carol McFee www.textiletales.blogspot.com and Lynda Monk www.purplemissus.com , and this postcard was in it. The card has such rich texture-very yummy. The book is filled with inspiring photos and directions for the textures.

Here's the second book I made testing SueB's new class Creative Book making being offered in September at www.twocreativestudios.com It has a ribbon closure and is using some of the scrapbook paper I can't resist buying and then just store.

Some of the pages inside are from those lovely sacks merchants use, and I can't throw away. Some form sleeves with the openings at the top or the sides depending on the size of the sack.

The lining is painted tissue. Another fun book to make.

I'm testing another class for SueB http://www.twocreativestudios.com/ called Creative Bookmaking and am very pleased with the book I made.

The shapes on the cover are grundboard which was easy to cut with my paper dedicated rotary cutter. I added beads-size 8- to the stitching as I bound the book.

The lining is a printed tissue that a friend gave me. She bought it at an Estate Sale of a Portland artist. The page is construction paper with acrylic paint on it. The paint is thick enough to draw a comb-one from the hardware store for texturing walls-through it to create a pattern.

Sorry that the picture is sideways. I've uploaded a number of times, and it won't do anything else-not a good way to start the day. This is a vase I made testing the last lesson for Sueb http://www.twocreativestudios.com/ for the Box Making Class starting soon. I did the edges on the serger but like the machine zigzag edges better.

Isn't this box a great idea? It wasn't hard to make. As you can see, the computer didn't put this one the right way either. They are both correct in my picture file. Oh well, normal fight with the computer.

This vase is made of Timtex covered in tissue paper.

This one is made of paper bag "fabric" and laced together. They are part of the class I'm testing for Sueb www.twocreativestudios.com that starts next month. Be sure to check it out. It's called Creative Box Making for the Fiber Artist. While not technically boxes, these are containers and were fun to make. People can never figure out what they are made of.

This is a very clever box. I couldn't resist using the bug fabric that a friend gave me. I love bugs in all their diversity. Watch what happens to the box.

It's a game box complete with X's and O's. The box folds up nicely to store the game pieces.

Here's another box for the Creative Box Making class Sueb of www.twocreativestudios.com is offering in February. This is a very clever one in which the roof opens to store things. I filled it with art supplies and sent it to my granddaughter for her birthday in early January. I think she'll like it.

Sue has put out a pattern for a mini journal. It's such a nice size, and the pattern is easy to follow. I used the pages of an old atlas rescued from the Goodwill Bins. Most of them relate to where I've lived or where family is. On this front I live off the bottom of the map.

Here is the

book cover that I made from silk fusion fabric. It is one of the lesson in Sueb's class www.twocreativestudios.com The decoration is shiny foil. The silk roving comes in so many colors and is so nice to work with.

This "holiday" weekend is a working one for us. I picked wild blackberries on our property and made jelly-looked like a pin cushion now from the thorns. We are also getting another downed tree out of the woods to use as firewood in the wood stove. Lots of good exercise!

This is the spine showing the marbled papers I did for Sue's Mixed Media for Journaling class. Both classes were great fun to do, and I learned so much.
On the blank sides of the papers I attached handmade papers, dyed tissue, and dried petals, leaves, and grasses.

Here are two pages. The handmade paper has a special story for me. Two friends came over to try making paper. Luckily, we set up in the yard, because when we poured the water in the blender, it ran all over. We had forgotten to put in the gasket. After we finished laughting, we fixed it and had a nice day making paper. It's a good memory, as one of my friends' MS no longer allows her to do things like that.

More Sue's Class

Here are a few of the many samples I did testing the next lessons of Sue's class http://webpages.charter.net/sbleiweiss/mmtechniquesclass.htm The cheesecloth is my favorite. I used it as a mop up cloth. The lace is easy to do and any fiber content works. The lines in the painted cotton suggest stitching. The dyed graduation will be great for quilts.

I'm having too much fun testing Sue Bleiweiss' class. Information on the class is available at http://webpages.charter.net/sbleiweiss/mmtechniquesclass.htm Join her in the fall for a great experience. The paper on the bottom is a lacy one and made a great print. I had to carefully lift from the plate so as not to tear it. The top is a print I took from the paint that was left.

Didn't the paper towel make an interesting impression? The bottom is an embossed wall paper sample.

Above are pictures of the journal I made to hold my samples. My theme is trees, hence the greens. It and leaves are recurring themes with me. Lucky me not to have to wait for fall to work on it.
