Knitting

This is an old Trendsetter pattern. The yarn is used double and knit on size 13 needles, so it goes fast.
I wear these colors a lot and tend to get cold, so it is a good style. I liked the idea of using a pin for a closure. I have a collection of pins that I rarely wear. My lifestyle with all the animals tends to be jeans and a t shirt. This pin is very light weight and won't pull on the knit.

Knitting

Another cowl knitted with the Brioche stitch. It's a fun one to do, so it keeps you entertained. A great project for what little TV we watch/I listen TV and would fall asleep, if my hands weren't busy.

This is the latest sweater I finished. The pattern was in an old Knit and Style. It is knit from cuff to cuff to create the sleeves and yoke then stitches are picked up to knit the body. The bands and collar are last.

I enjoy watching the weekly videos from Linda and Laura Kemshall on Design TV at their website www.lindakemshall.com Laura demonstrated how to make a cowl with two different yarns but only using one per row.

As usual, I missed an important instruction, so mine is different, but I like it. A friend gave me the variegated yarn, It's supposed to look like ribbing on both sides-Brioche stitch. I plan to make another the right way. I have a long, skinny neck that is usually cold, so these will be perfect for next winter. I love scarves but tend to either dump them into something or catch them on something. Cowl's should be a better solution.

Sweater

I haven't been in the studio much lately, but knitting is easy to carry around. A lady I work out with gave me the pattern. It was short sleeved, but I extended them and reverse the yoke shaping to create the cuffs. The yarn is a wool rayon blend I had and is very soft. The buttons are dyed Mother of Pearl.

I finally finished this sweater now that it's hot. It will be good to wear over a jersey this winte. It's a wool blend. It is a pattern from an old Knitters magazine, but I'm afraid I don't know which one. It starts at one sleeve and ends in the center front and back, so you knit two and join them. I like to do what I call puzzle sweaters.

I hand knit at night when my mind won't make decisions. This sweater started from a commercial pattern and was to be a vest. I didn't like how they did the armhole area, so I started directly with the body of the sweater. Then when I was working, I remembered that I had a machine knit vest that was similiar in color, so since there was plenty of yarn, I decided to add sleeves. They continued the pattern and end in ribbing. Next challenge-the neckline-it was way too big for me, so I picked up stitches and did the ribbing. I decided not to do any on the bottom, because I like the way it looks and fits without it. Short garments look better on me.

Here is the closure: an antique button with a loop. The yarn is cotton mostly. I used 5 cones of machine yarn held together for working. They all sat in a box next to me and behaved well most of the time.  This is definitely the way I work-can't seem to stay with someone else's idea.

Gift, Knitting

One of the ladies at quilt group had been to a bead show and bought us each a necklace. It matched my outfit perfectly, so I put it on immediately. Mine is actually violet, but the computer refused to show the real color no matter how I tried to manipulate it.I've just finished knitting a chemo cap. I knit at night when my mind is tired and doesn't create. The caps I do between other projects. The fur kind my son's Mother-in-law liked, because they give fullness and the illusion of bangs. Hopefully, now of you need one, but if you do, let me know.

Knitting

This was a fun scarf to knit and is fun to wear. It twists around itself and is done using short rows on one half, knitting across, and doing short rows on the other side.The pattern is from The Three Fold Journal 1 and is from Catherine Nicholls. The Three Fold Journal is a magazine/CD producted by the Kemshalls in England.  http://www.thr3foldjournal.com/  It's a fun concept with what amounts to a paperback 52 page book with a CD you use on the computer to access additional information. Videos are embedded in the CD for some of the articles too. Patterns are included for some things. They cover color and design as well as projects such as this scarf. I've enjoyed the magazine. It's sold each issue separately.

Marie at http://zquilts.blogspot.com/ has been making fingerless gloves. They look cool, so I decided to try a pair. She told me that the pattern is at http://www.knitty.com/  It was a fun one with the cables but easy to do.
