Mixed Media

More experiments from the Stratmore class. The top is using water color pencils and then water to "paint" the background with the pigment from the pencils.

In this one the shapes were again drawn with the watercolor pencils, but watercolor paints were used to draw the pigment out from the pencils. The color of the paint blends and mixes with the color of the pencils. Fun.

Quilting

This is the next charity quilt and is 50" by 50". The center is a piece that has been sitting around here for years. I added borders to make it big enough.

I've been watching the free classes that Stratmore provides. I watch all of them and learn even things I won't use but that are good to know. This one by the Journal Junkies is fun, so I had to try some of the things they were doing.

Above is a paper painted with watercolor that has had drops of rubbing alcohol drops on it.

This one is my favorite. It is watercolor again with rock salt dropped on it while it was wet.

Finally, the watercolored paper has a finer salt from Jacquard.

I watched a video on Design Matters TV http://www.lindakemshall.com/ by Linda Kemshall on using glass bead gel and had to try it. The gel was put on watercolor paper with a palette knife, let to dry and painted with watercolors.

I like the first one that looks like a landscape best but both were fun to do. Now I need suggestions on what to do with them.

I love Design Matters TV, as it always inspires me and makes me try things outside my comfort zone.

Knitting

On a shopping trip into Portland, I found this hand painted yarn on clearance. There wasn't much but enough to make a tank top.

Book Making

At Portland's Art and Soul, a teacher gave me a kit to make a book. I found it among the stuff in the studio and decided to make it. The top photo is it closed and tied with a ribbon.

The open photo shows the tab on one of the pages. They are 3 folds with the last section being shorter for the tab. It was fun and easy to make.

Bead Journal Project

 

 

This month's button for the Bead Journal Project is 1 1/2" across. It's beaded around the cabochon with seed beads in sizes 11 and 8. Rather an easy way out, but I like the order of it.
