Shopping

Look at the two pieces of fabric both 2 yds. that I found at Goodwill.  Luckily, I tested the first one before putting it in the washer for the jeans wash. There was so much excess dye that it took two rinses and a complete wash with Synthropol to get the water to run clear.

This one did no bleeding. They are both cotton. It's fun to get a bargain but always a wise idea to test things.

Gift

A good friend is becoming a Grandma again, so this fleece blanket will go to her new granddaughter.

 

Being a gadget junkie, I had to try a new rotary cutter blade that makes holes every 1/2 ". It makes crocheting the edge through the fleece easy. I think it would work on Ultrasuede too..

Beading

This is a new bracelet done on a grosgrain ribbon and using snaps to overlap and close it. I like that kind of closure and feel it is more secure. The gray mother of pearl buttons determined the design. The edging is picot stitch.

Stitching and Beading

This is the latest glass piece that I've used. It's mounted on an orange batik fabric and attached with 3 rows of beaded back stitch. Each row is a smaller bead, so that they snug up to the glass. Then I hand stitched the design and used it to decide where the other beads would go.

Not sure what will happen with it next, but I have some matching Ultrasuede left over from a purse I made.

Quilt

This would really qualify for the Mother/Daughter challenge too. I don't work in neutrals very often-love lots of color

. The leaves are sheers with the green ones dimensional-something I haven't done is quite a while. It's 16" by 23". The colors are somewhere between the entire photo and the detail. It's machine quilted.

Beading

This is the bracelet I made in a class taught by Christen Brown at www.joggles.com

It was a lot of fun and has given me ideas for many more. The focal beads were from when I worked for Aardvark Adventures in N. California. Sadly, the business is no longer.

Mother/Daughter Challenge

My daughter and I decided to challenge each other to help us keep trying new things. Karen http://karenlynnebeads.blogspot.com/2013/07/mom-daughter-challenge-1.html  did the first challenge to use a color and stitch we normally don't use.

I was trying some Tunsian Crochet and a new stitch called a puff stitch and decided to use pink-a color I don't care for.  It really was a challenge. First I tried to do the second row in the wrong place but didn't realize it until the scarf was 8 inches long and very biased. Then I kept repeating the rows in the wrong order. Finally, it clicked and the scarf is done. Repetition does help in learning. Now I need to find someone to give it too. I don't wear pink.
