I took Liz Kettle's Mixed Media Mayhem class at Portland's Art and Soul and had a great time in it. I had taken a felting class from her last year and knew she was a great teacher.

Jewelry
I took a trip to Springfield, Oregon to spend the day with our daughter. This is the necklace and bracelet set she made me. It has elephants on it and is so fun to wear. I love it. We had a great day visiting bead and craft stores. To visit her blog see Karen on the side bar.

Knitting
I'm taking the knitted hat class at www.craftsy.com and this is the first hat. The details don't show in the dark, fuzzy yarn, but it matches a cowl I wear in the winter.

Bead Journal Project
Here's October's Bead Journal Project small quilt http://bjp2013.blogspot.com
The three glass pieces are surrounded by beads to hold them in place. The lines echo the ones on the glass pieces. They are stitched with beads on each side. Both the background and the binding are batiks.
This reminded me of a spider and seemed perfect for the Halloween month.

Quilt
I seem to be doing orange right now. The center is a glass piece that I bought at a show. It is surrounded by beads and hand stitching. I found the ribbon yarn in my stash and decided it would make a good border around the two center sections. It is machine quilted.

Art Squared
I'm in a new Online art group started by Sue Bleiweiss called Art Squared http://artsquaredgroup.blogspot.com
The idea is that we can make something, anything in any media as long as it is square. Each of us in turn will name a theme. This time it is Magical. I didn't realize how hard it would be to photograph or scan blue green on blue green, so the photo is not great. I started with a needlefelted background in wool roving. The design is in Ultrasuede and is hand beaded. To me felt and beading are magical. Monday, October 7, 2013
Crochet
I took the www.craftsy.com class on Broomstick lace-hadn't done it in years. The first project was a glasses case, but I have plenty-taught a crazy quilt class with that as a project. I decided to do a second piece and make a small purse. It is lined with gray polyester and the buttons are vintage. The handle is a decorator trim I bought at Fabric Depot.
