Quilt

In going through old class samples, I found this piece and decided to finish it. I can't remember which class it was from but think it was a machine embroidery one.
The strips were fused to a background then edged with fancy yarns and threads using a zigzag. I machine quilted it with a variegated rayon thread. The blue fabric is kettlecloth, the red a silky polyester, the light blue is silk, and the blue print is a batik. How's that for mixing fabrics? It's about 20" by 16". I pictured it with the left side on the bottom, but blogger decided on this setting. No name yet.

This looks like it was tedious sewing! I had to enlarge it to get a sense of just how tedious. It's lovely, and the name "Crossroads" comes to my mind.

this is pretty cool Sandy - it feels like it's an arial view of a landscape.

I agree with Sue, it looks like aerial photos I took today over Tucson. I like the orientation the way it is.
