Take a Stitch Tuesday, Felting

I watched a DVD by Pokey Bolton about using the Embellisher and had to try this idea. It's strips of fabric punched into a base. The violet oval shapes are roving The blue-green pieces are lace motifs that I painted with acrylic paints. Before adding the lace, I machine quilted the circles with a rayon thread. Maybe it will be a fabric book cover. I have some decorated denim pockets that I want to use.

My using a regular thread and tight tension, this is what I got on the back. I like it too much to cover it up, so I'll have to come up with an edge treatment that leaves the back open. I think couched threads zigzagged to it would work.

Sharonb at http://www.pintangle.com/ gave us th Raised Closed Herringbone Stitch this week.
It makes a great leaf and went on my flower sampler. The light green is all 6 strands of embroidery floss to give a very full leaf. The dark is Perle Cotton #8 and is more open.

The front of that piece is beautiful but the back is pretty stunning! I would have a hard time deciding which side to call the front.

I think you'll definitely need to find a way to use this piece where it is reversible. I wouldn't want to hide either side!

You can't possibly cover up the 'back' of this piece, it looks just as good as the front - both stunning. cheers, Robin

Nice leaves. Isn't this stitch great for leaves?
